Twisted Fish

If you were a kid in the eighties, you knew about Garbage Pail Kids. And if you were this kid in the eighties, you beelined it to ampm anytime you got ahold of fifty cents so you could get yourself a pack. I used to love opening that pack to see which cards I got. Scouring the art for all the clever little easter eggs hidden in there. As an adult looking back at them, I still find the artwork pretty inspiring; so much detail in such a small format–especially in those early series. As an ongoing project, I decided to create my own little “trading card” series featuring some of the ocean’s most underreported outcasts. It’s a bit silly and somewhat irreverent at times, and sure, it can be pretty corny too, but, hey, it’s all in good fun, and that’s really the whole point, isn’t it?
