Stemma Brewing Company in Bellingham, Washington features a fun, family-friendly brand. In 2022, they were preparing to start canning a popular new product.
Super Squeeze is a carbonated hard juice that drinks like a mimosa. It’s a unique and refreshing drinking experience and the good folks at Stemma wanted to give it a brand to match. I was lead designer on the team they engaged to help bring it to life.
Sketch, develop, refine
The can design needed to feel related to Stemma’s cheerful brand, but also have its own distinct look with the flexibility to be used across several different flavor combinations and various merch opportunities. We decided Super Squeeze needed a distinctive and memorable wordmark to be the center point of the brand.
Make it pop
Since these cans would be distributed to grocery stores and specialty shops, it needed to stand out among the crowded shelves of ciders, seltzers and mixers. To accomplish this, we took the fruitiest of Stemma’s existing brand colors and built an auxiliary color palette comprised of juicy, vibrant colors for the Super Squeeze brand. We paired these colors with the wordmark, fruit iconography and some stylized drips to create a captivating can design that refuses to blend.

Stemma Super Squeeze Hard Juice is a unique and refreshing drinking experience with an eye-catching brand to back it up. Since its launch, Super Squeeze has become Stemma Brewing Company’s top-selling canned product with an enthusiastic and growing fanbase.
