Beets Propaganda

Otherlands Beer is a “funny little family-owned brewery & cafe” operating in Bellingham, Washington with roots firmly planted in Eastern Europe. In addition to easy drinking beer, they boast a thoughtful menu of European-inspired street foods, old family dishes, and some favorite snacks begged and borrowed from friends along the way. Prominently featured throughout these selections, are everyone’s favorite root vegetable: beets.

In 2021, Ben and Karolina at Otherlands were looking to create some t-shirts and thought it would be fun to combine their enthusiasm for beets with the constructivist style of soviet-era propaganda posters as both an homage to the underground veggie and a nod to their heritage. I was lead designer and illustrator on the team they tapped to do the honors.
